The Cardiff Comets started their lives as the Tiger Bay Tornadoes in 1989, but were renamed in the summer of 1994. They are the only Welsh Women's Ice Hockey Team playing in the British Women's Ice Hockey Leagues.
In the season of 2002/2003, the Comets won the top British Women's trophies, bringing the Premier League Trophy & the Chairman's Cup (Playoffs) out of England and home to Wales for the first time. The Comets became only the 3rd team ever to complete the double and the first ever Welsh women's club to win at the top level.
At the beginning of the 2009/2010 season, the Comets were proud to become affiliated with the Devils Community Foundation (DCF), and have been working closely with various other Cardiff Ice Hockey clubs for a number of years.
